Information for adult readers. This guide is not medical or legal advice.
ZYN Melts went on sale in the UK on 8 September 2026. They are fully dissolvable nicotine tablets from Philip Morris International, sold through Swedish Match North Europe. A can holds 20 tablets, they come in 1mg and 2mg, and they cost £6.50.
They matter because they are the first dissolvable oral nicotine product in the UK with a major manufacturer behind them. If you have seen the category appear in the last fortnight and wondered what it is, this is the product that put it there.

How you use one
ZYN’s own instruction is to place a tablet between your upper lip and gum, where it dissolves and releases nicotine and flavour. That is the same position as a nicotine pouch, which makes sense given where the product comes from. The step-by-step, and what not to do, is in how to use ZYN Melts. The difference is what happens at the end. A pouch has to come out and go in a bin. A melt dissolves and there is nothing left.
PMI describes the format as tobacco-free, with no smoke, no vapour and no odour. They also state plainly that it is not a cessation aid and that it is not risk free, because it contains nicotine, which is addictive.
Melts and pouches are not the same thing
The category names get used loosely, so it is worth separating them.
A nicotine pouch is a small sachet of material holding nicotine and flavour. It sits under your lip for 20 to 60 minutes and you take it out afterwards. A dissolvable melt is a compressed tablet with no sachet. It breaks down in your mouth over a few minutes and leaves nothing behind.
The practical differences are duration and waste. A pouch is a long, low-level session. A melt is shorter and self-clearing. If the thing that puts you off pouches is the soggy sachet at the end, that is the gap melts are built for. We have set ZYN Melts against ZYN’s own pouches in one table, and our longer explainer on nicotine melts and pouches goes into the mechanics.
The strength question
This is where most of the questions about ZYN Melts land, and it is worth being straightforward about it.
ZYN Melts top out at 2mg. ZYN’s own UK pouches run from 1.5mg up to 16.5mg, so the strongest melt is weaker than the weakest pouch. If you are coming from a 20mg/ml salt nic pod that you get through in a day, 2mg in a dissolvable tablet is a different order of magnitude. We have pulled that apart in is 2mg enough if you vape.
Whether that matters depends entirely on you. If you are a light or occasional user, or you already use low-strength pouches, 1mg and 2mg are sensible numbers and the product does what it says. If you are a heavy vaper, expect to be reaching for tablets more often than you would expect, and to do the arithmetic on what a can costs you per day.
There is no single conversion between what you vape and what you need orally. Inhaled and oral nicotine follow different absorption curves, so a milligram on an e-liquid bottle and a milligram in a tablet are not the same experience. We have written a starting-point guide for vapers moving to an oral format that sets out how to think about it without pretending the maths is exact.
Where NYXE sits
We are building a melt too, so treat this section as what it is.
NYXE Melts launch in 4mg and 8mg, twenty melts a pack at £7.99, in Arctic Mint, Wild Strawberry, Citrus Pineapple and White Peach. The melt dissolves anywhere in your mouth rather than parked in one spot, in three to five minutes, and it is formulated with cooling agents intended to give a vaper the throat sensation a mint tablet does not. We are not on sale yet. UK launch is 2027 and you can join the founding list for first access.
The honest comparison today is this. ZYN Melts are available now, cost less per can, come from a company with the distribution to put them in front of you, and are built around two mint flavours at low strengths. NYXE is built for someone whose starting point is a vape rather than a cigarette or a pouch, which is why the strengths start where ZYN’s stop. Both things can be true, and if you want a dissolvable melt this month, ZYN is the one you can actually buy.
Where to buy ZYN Melts in the UK
Through ZYN’s own UK site at £6.50 a can, through IQOS stores and iqos.com, and through third-party nicotine retailers such as Northerner, which discount the multipacks well below that. All require age verification, and there is still no supermarket or convenience distribution. We keep a full channel and price breakdown in where to buy ZYN Melts in the UK.
NYXE is a nicotine-containing product. For adults only. Not for non-nicotine users, pregnant women, or those with underlying health conditions without medical advice.
