ZYN Melts are sold in two strengths. 1mg and 2mg, across two mint flavours, and that is the entire range.

Put that next to ZYN’s own nicotine pouches, which in the UK run 1.5mg, 3mg, 6mg, 9mg, 11mg, 13.5mg and 16.5mg, and the melt range looks deliberately narrow. The strongest melt is weaker than the weakest pouch. That is not an accident, and it is the single most important thing to understand before you spend £6.50 finding out the hard way.

The numbers side by side

ZYN Melts ZYN pouches (UK)
Strengths 1mg, 2mg 1.5mg to 16.5mg
Flavours Cool Mint, Peppermint Mint, fruit, coffee
Format Dissolves fully Sachet, removed after use
Per can 20 20 or more depending on line

A dissolvable tablet is a new format for the UK, and launching it at low strengths is a cautious opening move rather than a statement about what the format can carry. Whether PMI extends the range is unknown.

Why “2mg” does not mean what you think

Here is where people go wrong. You cannot read across from the number on your e-liquid bottle to the number on a can.

A 20mg/ml salt nic liquid describes concentration, not dose. How much nicotine you actually take depends on how much liquid you get through, how the device runs, and how you draw on it. A 2mg tablet describes the total nicotine in the thing you put in your mouth, and you will not absorb all of it.

Inhaled and oral nicotine also behave differently once they are in you. Inhaled nicotine reaches the brain in seconds, which is a large part of what makes vaping feel like it is working. Oral nicotine goes through the lining of your mouth and arrives more slowly and more gently. Same milligram, different experience.

So the honest answer to “is 2mg enough” is that it depends on what you are replacing, and nobody can convert it for you on paper. Our starting-point guide for vapers moving to an oral format sets out how to think about it.

Who ZYN Melts suit

They are a good fit if you are already using low-strength pouches, if you vape lightly or socially, or if you want something for the specific situations where you cannot vape at all. A flight, an office, a cinema. At 1mg and 2mg, in a format that clears itself in a few minutes, that is a sensible product and it does what it says.

They are a harder fit if you are a heavy vaper. If you are on 20mg/ml and getting through a pod a day, you should expect to reach for tablets more often than you would like, and at 33p a tablet direct from ZYN that arithmetic adds up. The cheaper multipacks from third-party sellers change the maths a fair bit, so factor those in before writing the product off on cost.

The gap this leaves

There is no dissolvable melt on UK sale above 2mg. That is worth saying plainly, because a lot of people will try ZYN Melts, find them too light, and conclude the format does not work. The format is not the problem. The strength ceiling is.

This is the gap NYXE is built for, so treat what follows as interested rather than neutral.

NYXE Melts launch in 4mg and 8mg, which is where ZYN’s melt range stops. The melt dissolves anywhere in your mouth over three to five minutes rather than sitting in one spot, and it uses cooling agents to give a throat sensation that a plain mint tablet does not. It is designed around someone whose starting point is a vape rather than a cigarette or a pouch. We are not on sale. UK launch is 2027 and you can join the founding list for first access.

None of that helps you this month. If you want a dissolvable melt today, ZYN is the only one you can buy, and starting on the 2mg rather than the 1mg is the sensible first purchase for anyone coming off a vape.
